A Media Workshop for Nonprofits Wednesday, August 31 9 am - 5pm at Catalyst Miami 1900 Biscayne Boulevard Suite 200 Miami, Fl 33132

Florida New Majority and Catalyst Miami are co-hosting a strategic communications training for social justice and non-profit organizations in South Florida When was the last time you saw your organization's name in print? In this all-day training for non-profits you will learn how to maximize your impact through effective media work. Join us and learn how to:

1. Plan effective media strategies

2. Build sustainable relations with media and reporters

3. Engage the media and pitch your story

4. Hold successful media events

5. Tell your story effectively: write engaging press releases, prepare clear talking points and be an effective spokesperson South Florida Journalist Panel and Luncheon

Over lunch we will be treated to a panel discussion with South Florida reporters and media makers. Our guests will answer questions about effectively pitching stories, and developing lasting and beneficial relationships with media outlets. Cheryl Mizell 99 JAMZ Community Voices, WEDR-FM Sarah Gonzalez Educational Reporter, NPR's State Impact Ana Cristina Enriquez Reporter and Anchor for Vme News Steve Litz Reporter, NBC Miami Experienced Facilitators: 20+ Years We will share our 20 years of combined experience in media work and teach you techniques to maximize your impact. You will walk away with hard skills, such as press release writing, as well as larger concepts such as framing and messaging. Everything you learn will be immediately applicable to increase your effectiveness. Natalia Jaramillo has a decade of experience in media and communications with a focus on international aid, advocacy, and organizing. She started her communications work in Colombia and in Uruguay working with UNICEF. She most recently worked with Florida New Majority, a statewide civic engagement organization, and is currently the Communications Manager at the Florida Immigrant Coalition. Joseph Phelan has over a decade of experience in media and communications with a focus on communications for social and economic justice. He most recently was the Communications Coordinator for the Miami Workers Center, and is currently the Communications Director at Florida New Majority. Register NOW!
