The House Appropriations Committee has recommended the elimination of AmeriCorps. Take action: http://thurly.net/0vl0

The House Appropriations Committee has recommended the elimination of AmeriCorps. Here in Miami, the elimination of AmeriCorps would dramatically reduce the impact of popular and successful job placement programs such as Public Allies, City Year, VISTA and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, among others.

You can do two things now to save AmeriCorps:

1.       Sign this letter to support AmeriCorps refunding.

2.       Call your U.S Senators and U.S. Representative and tell them to vote NO on H.R. 1 and that you oppose the defunding of AmeriCorps.

Here are the Florida senators to call:

Nelson, Bill - (D - FL)  Class I

 (202) 224-5274

Rubio, Marco - (R - FL)  Class III

(202) 224-3041

You can find your U.S. Representative's contact information here (ZIP+4 code required):
